There's lots of news coming out of Boneville this month. I got the inside scoop on a few things while at Wizard World's Chicago'98, here goes. It Figures! I'm sure by now you've heard about the upcoming Bone action figures by Resaurus, the company who made the Duke Nukem toys. The first edition includes Fone Bone, Thorn, Mrs.Possum, Rat creature, Smiley Bone, and Bartleby. Accessories are also included with all figures. ReSurus company has the toy rights to Jeff Smith's Bone. The sales of the figures will begin in November, but a second edition of figures are planned to be released in 1999.Limited distributionavailable only through Previews and FAO Schwartz in 1998! Jeff Smiths Bone is one of comics most beloved and popular independant series in comics today. Now you can re-enact all your favorite moments from the comics with these super-cool Bone Action Figures! This first wave may include a mix of the following figures: Fone Bone, Smiley Bone, Phoney Bone, Thorn, and a stupid, stupid Rat Creature. Each figure comes individually packaged, with accessories. According to a Jeff Smith representative I spoke to at the Comic Convention, the Phoney Bone figure will only be available at FAO Swartz. And contrary to whatever else you've read they shouldn't be available until November. Here is some control art from Toy Fare magazine: I got these pictures from the Previews catalog: Here's the ad from the newest Bone issue: Bone Prequel! If you went to the Trilogy Tour this year you will already know that in the Trilogy Tour II book there is a six-page preview of the upcoming series "Rose". This series will be published by Cartoon Books with artwork by Jeff Smith and Charles Vess, of The Book of Ballads and Sagas fame. Smith did the layouts and story, while Vess has done the full color paintings. The result is a beautiful book that should reveal a lot about Thorn's Grandmother an "the dreaming". Click here for more info. Also in the Trilogy Tour II book is this two page Bone short. It takes place during the Bones stay at Barrel Haven, after the Great Cow Race. It contains a silly discussion between Phoney and Smiley. |
